This paper describes an empirical study of manufacturing companies based in Vietnam who use reverse logistics operations to support the ASEAN market in general and the Vietnam market in particular. This study is an initial step to identify and understand reserve logistics practices of manufacturing companies in Vietnam, which used to sustain key industries operations in the ASEAN region. An analysis was undertaken of various methods used when managing reverse logistics operations.
The defect on production is the most popular reason for returning, that demonstrates the deficient manufacturing process of companies in Vietnam.Most product return are demolished for food companies or remanufactured for others industries such as: electronic component or machinery. The key barriers to reverse logistics were identified as lack of management skill, financial constraint and legal issues.
